This woollen weft-faced hanging is 120x70cms. Playing with colour, movement and simplicity. Unfortunately a photo (with MY equipment anyway) never quite captures the subtlety of colour changes, something you really only see in real life. Playing with colour seems to be a thread through my work, perhaps a reaction to something a friend one said, in relative darkness, that colour didn’t exist! It’s taken me years to understand what he meant. I was tutoring someone recently. One of her first ‘declarations’ to me was that she knew nothing about ‘colour’. Just another one of those myths that certainly got busted that day! She wore the most fabulous clothes, and obviously had a mighty colour sense. Just one that had never been acknowledged. Or needed awakening and encouraged.
