Wild Flower Meadow
Chenille all wool rug measuring 130 cms x 180 cms. I made the chenille on the loom first, periodically interspersing the colours for the flowers, cut the chenille into strips and then wove the rug. This rug has a very luxurious feel because it has the double thickness of the chenille.
Thumbnail 1: From bottom left I started with the photograph and moving anti-clockwise, a little drawing. Next I chopped up bits of wool in the colours I intended using and glued them to a page to achieve the fluffy look. Top, photo of rug.
Thumbnail 2:For those of you who are weavers, this is my workbook sketch showing the long warp threads (fine tightly spun hair yarn with the bundles of mixed warp threads passing through them. The white lines are where the cutting takes place to produce the chenille. The second image is of the cut chenille.
